Reduce the amount of mail that comes through your mail box.
Coupons, magazines and directories can be accessed online. Think about whether you really need paper copies.
Remove yourself from mailing lists:
- Direct Marketing Association - DMAchoice.org - choose what you receive from nearly 3600 member companies. You can opt out of credit card and insurance adverts via the Internet for 5 years, or permanently if you write. You can ask to be removed from catalog, magazine and other mail offers, if you are not already a subscriber. If you are already on a customer list, then you may have to contact the list owner directly. You can also email DMAchoice, Direct Marketing Association, PO BOx 643, Carmel, NY 10512 with all the names at your house that you want removed, your address, signature, email address and a check or money order for $1.
- Valassis - RedPlum coupons - mailing list removal online or call 800-437-0479 (8:30 am - 5:00 pm Eastern Time)
- Valpak Coupons - to be removed enter information exactly as on your Valpak envelope or call 800-237-6266
- Valley Yellow Pages - opt-out annually or call 800-350-8887- at least 8 weeks before delivery
- Verizon SuperMedia Yellow Pages - opt-out or call 800-888--8448 option 2
- AT&T Yellow Pages - use the web version realpageslive.com - opt out online or call 866-329-7118
- Palo Alto Weekly - read www.paloaltoonline.com - call 650-326-8210 and ask for circulation to cancel
- Gentry Magazine - read www.gentrymagazine.com - call 650-324-1818 ext 223 to cancel
If you receive postcards from arts organizations, you may need to contact them directly to be removed from their list. Most organizations also have an email address that you can find by clicking on the links below.
